Video: When F1 drivers crash on city streets

Although Formula 1 stars are some of the best drivers you'll find in the world, they aren't immune from making mistakes. Whether it be Max Verstappen behind the wheel of a Toro Rosso or Sebastian Vettel in a Ferrari, there have been some notable gaffes during promotion laps.

When it comes to Formula 1, you think of roaring engines, pinpoint accuracy and speed. That's why fans can't get enough of the beautiful creations when they are showcased on large city streets. However, these drivers have shown that things don't always go to plan.

Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen got it all wrong on the streets of Rotterdam back in 2014. Despite being just 16 years old at the time, the starlet was already signed by Red Bull and would join Toro Rosso in 2015. However while cruising the streets at an event in Rotterdam, things went wrong for Max on the third lap as he got on the clutch too late. The result? A broken front wing.

Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel's venture into the wall shows that even former world champions can make mistakes. During a F1 Festival event in the streets of Milan, Vettel gave his mechanics some extra work by sending his SF71H into the barrier.

Kamui Kobayashi

Our next video sees another Ferrari kiss the wall. Back in 2013, Kamui Kobayashi, Ferrari's driver in the World Endurance Championship that year, couldn't keep things under control on the streets of Moscow. Rain resulted in tricky conditions and they proved too much for the Japanese driver, who took a real bite out of his Ferrari.

Pastor Maldonado

Known for his accidents while in Formula 1, no list is complete without former Williams man Pastor Maldonado. During a demonstration in his native Venezuela back in 2012, Maldonado misjudged a turn and collided with a curb.

Nick Heidfeld

Last on the list is former F1 driver Nick Heidfeld during a demonstration in Munich back in 2008. Although the images aren't the best, you can see Heidfeld lose the front wing of his BMW car after clipping the curbing.
