Max Verstappen's bid to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual with Team Redline is over after he crashed out of proceedings on Saturday night.
Verstappen's team - having been beaten to pole position by just 0.002s - stormed into the lead of the race and built up an advantage of around a minute by the seven-hour mark.
However, entering the last chicane shortly after overtaking a GT entry, Verstappen lost control of his car over the kerbs, slid off the track and struck the wall at speed, putting an end to his and the team's efforts.
"Endurance racing can be cruel sometimes," read an update from Team Redline on Twitter after the incident.
"Nevertheless, an incredible effort by everyone involved. The pace our #123 had out there was nothing short of spectacular."
