Max Verstappen made history on Sunday night as he became the first Dutchman to secure the F1 world title.

After a titanic, season-long battle with Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes, the Red Bull driver came out on top in hugely dramatic circumstances.

Verstappen trailed Hamilton early in the race but came back into play with Virtual Safety Car and Safety Car periods, before winning a straight shootout on the final lap as the championship rivals ran different tyres.

Having made his F1 debut with Toro Rosso aged just 17, and won his first Grand Prix with Red Bull a year later, Verstappen has now achieved the ultimate prize, with his team taking a moment to remember the journey.
