Video: Mercedes explain how the F1 Halo works

The Halo cockpit protection system is once again being praised following Lewis Hamilton's close call at the Italian Grand Prix. Mercedes are certainly appreciative of it, sharing a 2018 video in which they explain how the system works.

While fans may not have been keen on the Halo cockpit protection system when it was first introduced in 2018, there's no doubt it's saved several drivers from serious injury since then.

That latest example of that was seen in Sunday's Italian Grand Prix, as Max Verstappen's Red Bull car came into contact with Lewis Hamilton's crash helmet after the two collided on Lap 26 of the race at Monza.

Toto Wolff was quick to praise the Halo following the race, stating that it saved the Briton's life, while noting that he didn't want to think about what would have happened had it not been in place.

Mercedes took to their Twitter account to remind everyone just how crucial the Halo is, sharing an explainer video from 2018.
