F1 returns to Spa-Francorchamps for the Belgian Grand Prix and the last race before the summer break. Max Verstappen enters the weekend with a 110-point advantage over Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez following his seventh race win in a row. But before cars hit the track, RacingNews365 takes a look at five of the best stats and facts for the Belgian GP weekend.
Verstappen's astonishing feat
Verstappen's astonishing run of form last season earned him the record for most wins in a single campaign with 15. Nine wins from 11 this term see the Dutchman join Jim Clark and Niki Lauda for 10th in all-time F1 wins, counting only his victories since the start of 2022.
Hamilton misery
Lewis Hamilton has conquered almost all before him on his way to seven Drivers' titles. But the Belgian Grand Prix remains somewhat of a bogey track for the Briton - he has failed to finish at Spa more times [5] than at any other track in his F1 career, including lap one retirements in 2009, 2012 and 2022.
Leclerc's good omen
It may have been a tough year for Ferrari, but the form guide does provide optimism for a strong result. Charles Leclerc's two podium finishes this year – and his only front-row starts – have come at the two sprint weekends in Azerbaijan and Austria.
Mr Consistency
Aston Martin's form may have dipped, but no driver is as consistent in qualifying as Fernando Alonso. The two-time champion is the only driver on the grid to have reached Q3 at every race this season.
Piastri on form
Oscar Piastri's strong start to life as an F1 driver has been highlighted by McLaren's recent upgrade package. Before receiving the update at the British Grand Prix, the Australian had failed to complete a lap inside the top five. But since the start of the Silverstone race, Piastri has only completed one lap outside the top five, such is the improvement.
