Max Verstappen was comfortably the best driver in the 2024 F1 season, based on his average finishing position.
The four-time world champion secured an average finishing position of 3.63, making him the only driver with an average finishing position below fourth.
Lando Norris claimed the second-best average finishing position of 4.29, although still 0.66 places worse than the Red Bull driver.
With an average finishing position of 4.54, Charles Leclerc completed the top three and was just 0.25 positions worse than Norris. No other driver had an average finishing position lower than fifth.
Whilst Verstappen was clearly the strongest driver this year, the extent of Sergio Perez's 2024 struggles is evident by his average finishing position.
In the top 10, Perez had the eighth-best average finishing position of 9.67, a staggering 6.04 places lower than Verstappen.
Perez's average finishing position was almost three places worse than Lewis Hamilton in eighth – his average was 6.96 – and only 0.62 places better than Fernando Alonso.
