Max Verstappen has explained that changes to his Red Bull during Q3 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix made his Red Bull "even worse" than it was before.
The Dutchman finished the qualifying hour at the Yas Marina Circuit fifth fastest. Whilst he will start fourth on account of Nico Hulkenberg's grid penalty, it could have been even better for the four-time F1 drivers' champion.
At the end his first run in the final third of the session, his RB20 suffered a significant snap of oversteer, leaving him heading towards the pit wall. The 27-year-old managed to recover the moment and finish the lap, but it cost him valuable time.
However, changes made to the front of his car for his last push lap failed to yield the expected results, with the 63-time grand prix winner bemoaning the adjustments.
"Just to the front wing, and it made everything just even worse," he told media including RacingNews365.
When asked for further insight into what problems it introduced, he replied: "Oversteer and understeer in places."

Nevertheless, the Red Bull driver was keen to highlight the work made to his RB20 ahead of the final practice session in Abu Dhabi before explaining why those changes failed to bite in the desired way.
"They [Red Bull] did a good job overnight," Verstappen said. "I think we did make the right adjustments. It's just sometimes track layout is a bit different.
"We know that we are good in the medium to very high speed, of course here you also has some low speed corners, and it's more like medium to low speed.
"So, that's always been a bit more our weakness. I think we have improved in that area, but we still have some things to improve on."
