Max Verstappen has reacted to the heated radio conversation with Red Bull race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase during Belgian Grand Prix qualifying. The runaway F1 championship leader narrowly edged through to the final part of qualifying when finishing 10th in Q2 as drivers battled with a drying track, switching from Intermediates to Softs. Fuming over team radio in the intermission between Q2 and Q3, Verstappen said: "I should have just f***ing pushed two laps in a row like I said. Lambiase replied: "But you are through." When Verstappen responded that he 'didn't give a f**k', Lambiase said: "ok, so when the track was two seconds quicker for your final lap and you had no battery left, how would that have gone down? "But you tell me what you want to do... let me know - sets, fuel, run plan..." Verstappen apologised after blitzing the rest of the field, saying: "Nice job that, at least we had a good Q3. Sorry GP for being so on a rant." Lambiase replied: "Slowly getting used to it Max."
Apology
Verstappen blitzed the rest of the field to take the fastest time by eight-tenths over Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, though he will drop to sixth by virtue of a gearbox penalty. Apologising after his stellar lap, Verstappen said: "Nice job that, at least we had a good Q3. Sorry GP for being so on a rant." Lambiase replied: "Slowly getting used to it Max." Reacting to the exchanges, Verstappen told media including RacingNews365 : "That happens sometimes. "Most of it is normally always blocked off. "We can both be quite emotional and vocal, but we sort it afterwards."
