Verstappen praises Red Bull and Honda: Haven’t experienced this before

It's been a perfect start to the Formula 1 season for Max Verstappen and Red Bull as the Dutchman has topped every session so far, including Saturday's qualifying.

Although there are no guarantees as to what it means for the rest of the year, Max Verstappen admits things have never been quite this good at Red Bull since joining the team. The Dutchman will start from pole alongside rival Lewis Hamilton for Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix. Verstappen had nothing but praise for the team and Honda given how well the RB16B has performed so far. "It's not a guarantee for the rest of the year, but it's a very good start for us," Verstappen told RacingNews365.com and other members of the media. "I am very happy with this. I've never experienced this at Red Bull before and it also shows that everyone at the factory has really been on the gas this winter, and Honda too of course - they've really taken strides forward. Red Bull looked strong during winter testing as well, and while Verstappen was confident in the car heading into the first race, he wasn't entirely sure what to expect. "You never know," Verstappen added. "From our side, things can still be better. The feeling with the car was already good during testing and it's been the same all weekend. "Then of course you have to wait and see what the rest of the grid do, but it is clear that we have a good car." Verstappen finished almost four tenths up on Hamilton, though he feels he left some time on the track. "On my penultimate lap I lost the rear a few times because we made some adjustments to the front wing that weren't great," Verstappen said. "So I knew that if I drove a good lap, there was still some time in it. But even then you don't know how everyone else is doing. "When I crossed the line and saw my lap time I knew it was good. Lewis is also very strong in qualifying and you expected him to pick up some time in his last lap."
