Max Verstappen says that it was an "easy decision" to remain with Red Bull, having signed a new five-year contract extension. The Dutchman already had an agreement in place until the end of 2023, but the new deal means that he will stay with the Milton Keynes-based squad until the end of 2028. Verstappen is thrilled to have secured his future with Red Bull off the back of his maiden World Championship victory in 2021. "I really enjoy being part of the Oracle Red Bull Racing Team, so choosing to stay to the 2028 season was an easy decision," Verstappen said. "I love this team and last year was simply incredible, our goal since we came together in 2016 was to win the championship and we have done that, so now it's about keeping the number one on the car long-term." Verstappen's new contract is the current longest on the F1 grid, though follows on from other multi-year deals. Lando Norris recently signed to remain with McLaren until the end of 2025, whilst Charles Leclerc is due to stay with Ferrari until the end of 2024.
