Max Verstappen admits that the recent exposure of Red Bull's floor is "not great", but has also downplayed the risk of the team's Formula 1 rivals creating copies. The underside of Sergio Perez's RB19 became visible for all to see when it was lifted by crane away from the track following his crash in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix. Since then, other teams have been able to examine the floor in photographs from the incident, with Mercedes Technical Director James Allison admitting that the images had given the squad's aerodynamicists something to "pore over" . While Verstappen acknowledges that the situation was not ideal, he believes that it would be difficult for others to create their own version of Red Bull's floor.
Verstappen: We will have a new floor in a few races
"They [Red Bull's rivals] are working on that anyway, but of course it is not great," Verstappen told select Dutch media, including RacingNews365.nl . "Of course, the other teams are not stupid either: even if they were to copy it completely, it would not fit the philosophy of their car. You have to adjust a lot of things around that as well. "We can't just put someone else's sidepod on it either. Then the car just doesn't work, so in the end I don't think it matters that much. "This is our floor now, but we will also have a new floor in a few races. It won't make that much difference."
