Max Verstappen has insisted he has no interest in becoming an F1 Team Principal when he eventually hangs up his helmet. The Dutchman is contracted to Red Bull until 2028 - when he will be 31 - and has frequently suggested he has no desire to race into his 40s, as Fernando Alonso has and Lewis Hamilton looks set to do. Throughout the history of the sport, World Champions from John Surtees to Emerson Fittipaldi and Alain Prost have set up their own racing teams, whilst other drivers have moved into a team leadership role when ending their own on-track careers. But speaking to CNN , Verstappen cited the huge responsibility and frequent travelling as factors dissuading him from running an F1 team of his own. "There's so much money involved, and I don't want to be in a position making the calls," said Verstappen. "It's a lot of travelling and I’ve already done that as a driver, so I definitely don't want to do it again as a Team Principal." On his other options, Verstappen added: "I love my sim racing. "Some people think it's just a game, but it's not. I have a lot of passion in that, and I have a lot of plans for the future to build something to maybe bring sim races to the real world and see how far they can reach. "I may want to have my own race team. There's so many opportunities in that as well which I want to try and achieve, which I'm working on already."
Verstappen unconcerned with legacy
Verstappen already has 173 Grands Prix starts, 43 race wins and two World Championship titles under his belt at 25 years old, with the Dutchman seemingly nailed on to take his third crown this year. But dismissing concerns over what legacy he will leave when leaving F1, Verstappen explained: "I'm here at the moment trying to achieve everything I can, but I also know there's much more to life than only Formula 1. "Once I'm done, I want to just enjoy my life and do other things. And then what happened in F1 is done. "It's written down, but it's probably not something I will look back on when I'm 60 or 70. "It's probably not something you care about too much, because that's something that has happened earlier in your life, which you've worked for a long time. But yeah, that's done."
