Max Verstappen limped out of his Red Bull after a huge shunt on the first lap of the British Grand Prix as he collided with Lewis Hamilton.
Verstappen, who will still lead the championship despite his retirement, went wheel to wheel down the old pit straight with Hamilton before the pair made contact at Copse.
The championship protagonists raced each other hard from lights out all the way through the opening nine corners until the high-speed right-hander of Turn 9 when Verstappen spun out and hit the tyre barriers hard.
Hamilton was given a 10-second time penalty for causing a collision, which he served at his first pit stop.
The race was red flagged and Verstappen walked away from the incident. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc took advantage of the incident to take the lead.
