Jak Crawford, Aston Martin reserve and F2 driver, will get his maiden F1 FP1 outing at the Mexico City Grand Prix next weekend for the Silverstone-based squad.
The American will replace Lance Stroll, who will be back in the cockpit of his AMR25 for the second free practice session.
Houston-born Crawford has sampled F1 machinery before, with over 2,000km of testing in the 2022-2024 machines as well as simulator sessions at the team's Silverstone HQ, but is yet to drive on an official F1 weekend.
Crawford's FP1 outing is the third of the four mandatory rookie sessions Aston Martin must give to a young driver, with Felipe Drugovich getting outings in Bahrain and Hungary in place of Fernando Alonso.
It means Stroll must hand his car over to a young driver on one more occasion this season, most likely in Abu Dhabi.
"I’m thrilled to drive the AMR25 next week in Mexico for my first official Formula 1 session," said Crawford.
"I’ve worked closely with the team all year, so to now take the next step and get track time on a Grand Prix weekend is really exciting.
"Announcing this in Texas, where I’m from, makes it even more special after a busy week with the team and Aramco in Houston."
