US vice-president and presidential nominee Kamala Harris has revealed she is a big fan of F1 - and her favourite driver is Lewis Hamilton.

Harris is running as the Democratic nominee in the November 5 election, where she is running against former Republican president Donald Trump, who is hoping to be re-elected after losing his 2020 bid to now-incumbent Joe Biden.

If she is successful, Harris will become the first female president in the history of the United States, and has revealed she and her family often watch grands prix.

"Oh it is so good, we love it, our whole family does," she explained on the Howard Stern podcast.

"I haven't been watching a lot recently because I have been campaigning and it depends on where they are driving, with the time of day."

When asked by Stern as to her favourite driver, Harris quickly named seven-time F1 champion Hamilton.

"Lewis Hamilton, of course, he is leaving Mercedes," she said, before telling Stern that once he started watching F1 "you'll get it" after the host made clear he did not watch the series himself.

Trump, who attended the Miami Grand Prix earlier this year, has never named his favourite driver.

However, after Lando Norris claimed a maiden career victory at that race, the 45th president declared himself to be the British driver's "lucky charm".
