Yuki Tsunoda was ordered to rest on medical grounds following a major crash in qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
After running wide on the exit of Turn 5 at the Hungaroring, Tsunoda caught the astroturf and was unable to stop his RB from sliding into a concrete wall which destroyed the left-hand side of his car.
After being taken to the medical centre for a compulsory check, Tsunoda then completed his TV interviews but did not attend his written media session on the advice he was to rest.
Speaking to F1TV after his shunt which occurred with just over two minutes remaining in Q3, Tsunoda did not sound coherent.
"To be honest, I felt great in the turn," he said, when asked what had happened. "But I didn't expect that. I just ran wide there."
But then he added: "I was comfortably within the track but half the tyre went on the grass.
"With those kind of things, normally it [going off] happens. Probably because it was wet, kind of exaggerated and went wide.
"Until that corner, the lap was great. It's a great shame."
At present, Tsunoda is due to line up 10th on the grid although it remains to be seen whether changes need to be made to the car that could necessitate a pit-lane start.
Asked if he was still hopeful of points given his grid position, Tsunoda replied: "I'm more worried about my car than my body. It's a great, great shame. I'm disappointed. I hope my car is good. I obviously feel bad for the team."
