Toto Wolff has vowed that Mercedes will "leave no stone unturned" in its bid to find solutions to its recent power unit failures.

In Barcelona, Kimi Antonelli dropped out of second place in the closing stages, losing 18 points, after suffering what the team called an "electrical shutdown".

This came after George Russell suffered a similar-looking retirement whilst leading in Canada, losing a potential 25 points.

It is not only Mercedes cars which have suffered from power unit issues in 2026, but Mercedes HPP customer team McLaren is also affected, with both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri unable to start in China after problems shortly before the race.

Reflecting after Antonelli's DNF, Wolff declared that Mercedes simply must find solutions and can't afford to drop any more points.

"We can't DNF cars in a regular, continued way," Wolff told media, including RacingNews365.

"Losing 25 points in the constructors' championship in Montreal, and losing another 18 points [in Barcelona], in order to finish first, first you must finish - and reliability, this is what we need to get on top of.

"That is number one, and nobody is happy about it, and we will leave no stone unturned to understand [what is causing the issues]."

Turning to Antonelli's failure, Wolff felt that the cause was "similar" to Russell's Canada failure.

"Most of the others were battery-related, but different failures," he said.

"It was not always the same, so we need to understand what it was, but clearly, the symptom was quite similar, in that the car, like George in Montreal, where the car just switched off.

"But we will be digging really deep to make sure it doesn't happen again."
