Szafnauer: There's more to come from Vettel

The Aston Martin team boss feels that Sebastian Vettel will only get better with the British Grand Prix approaching.

Aston Martin CEO and team principal Otmar Szafnuar believes that Sebastian Vettel is gaining confidence but has more to give and is yet to perform at his very best. Vettel has had a mixed season with a tough start to his 2021 campaign before he impressed in Monaco and took a remarkable second place at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The Austrian rounds did not go well for Vettel though as he failed to score points. "I think he's at 99-plus percent," Szafnauer told RacingNews365.com and other members of the press. "There's probably still more to come from Seb. "But he's very comfortable and working well with the team. We are working hard to get more performance out of the car." Szafnauer revealed that developments are still being made to Aston Martin's 2021 machine and thinks many of their improvements have come from learning and understanding the car's strengths and weaknesses. "We're continuing to update the car to make it better and learning as we go along," said Szafnauer. "We're getting new tyres at Silverstone too so that'll be different. We're going to have to learn there but pretty soon I hope we get the best that we're going to be, and keep fighting for points."
