George Russell will start the Canadian Grand Prix from pole position, taking the second of his career in Montreal on Saturday.

The closely fought qualifying battle saw the Briton set the exact same time as Max Verstappen - but as it was the Mercedes driver who got the lap time in first, he took the top spot.

The second row of the grid sees an all-McLaren line-up with Lando Norris besting Oscar Piastri to the better starting spot.

Daniel Ricciardo impressed with his run to fifth place, while the Ferrari duo and Sergio Perez faltered and failed to reach Q3.

Despite having a five-place grid penalty in place, Esteban Ocon will remain in 18th, where he qualified, with the Stake F1 drivers moving to the pit lane following changes to their cars after qualifying.
