Sergio Perez has identified what he believes is the biggest issue Cadillac must rectify to remain competitive in F1.
Cadillac has performed respectably in its first four grands prix and has been ahead of Aston Martin in the battle not to be last, with Valtteri Bottas's 13th place in the Chinese GP keeping F1's newest team ahead of Aston on countback with both yet to score.
In Miami, for the first time, both Astons out-qualified both Cadillacs, before Perez battled with Fernando Alonso, coming home 16th to Alonso's 15th in the private battle between the two teams.
Cadillac delivered its first big upgrade to Miami, and as the team continues to work to understand it and best how to extract performance, Perez has identified how the MAC-26 chassis uses its tyres as a major area for improvement.
"We just had a bit of degradation, I think we were degrading the tyres a little bit too much," Perez told media, including RacingNews365, when reflecting on the Miami GP.
"We chose the hard, but in hindsight, I think we should have gone for the soft, so it is something to analyse, but at the same time, understanding this package will be key to making more progress in Canada.
"Because we need to understand it more to try to bring better solutions, and we don't have much time, but I think one of the short-term things we need to improve is degradation.
"We have some ideas there, but it is just putting all of the groups together that will be the biggest work in the coming weeks for the team."
