Sergio Perez has outlined what he feels was the “biggest challenge” upon his return to a full-time F1 drive.
Perez departed the grid at the end of the 2024 campaign following a challenging campaign with Red Bull.
However, as Cadillac assessed the market for its driver line-up ahead of its debut season in 2026, Perez became a legitimate option due to his vast experience.
The Mexican was signed alongside fellow veteran Valtteri Bottas to lead the development of the car based on their feedback.
However, Perez asserted that the biggest hurdle was adjusting to the hectic timetable F1 drivers are forced to navigate.
“The biggest challenge was getting back to the rhythm of the schedule of an F1 driver, to be honest,” Perez told media including RacingNews365.
“Initially, like I was doing a test and then getting a message that I had to be in two days, in a different country, and then two days later in another country.
“Like getting up to [speed with] that, you tend to forget how the life of an F1 driver is, how busy and how scheduled everything is, you live through a schedule.
“That to me was like the hardest thing to get up to [speed].
“But then, within two or three months, I had no choice, so I got used to it.”
After 11 rounds, Cadillac is still waiting to get off the mark and score its first points.
