Liam Lawson has been demoted to the Montreal pit lane for the start of the Canadian Grand Prix after changes were made to his car after qualifying.

Lawson has had a new power unit fitted ahead of the grand prix.

Several of the power unit elements exceed the penalty-free allowance for the season, while the changes also breach parc fermé conditions.

Lawson has also had suspension changes carried out to his Racing Bulls car.

A difficult session for the New Zealander saw him drop out in Q1 after ending the session in 19th.

Lawson has joined Pierre Gasly in the pit lane, after changes were carried out to the Alpine car when he qualified at the back of the field.
