Sebastien Buemi has taken confidence from his podium in Jeddah after his strong pace so far this season was finally rewarded, recognising that Envision "can consistently be fast".
Gen3 had never quite clicked for Buemi, and despite his wet win in Monaco last season and occasional podiums, featuring near the front was a rarity for the Season 2 champion.
The complete opposite can be said for the current campaign, with Buemi having looked the strongest he has since the early years of Gen2.
Buemi has shown competitive pace at pretty much every venue so far this season, although that one big result had failed to come for him.
Starting on pole in Mexico City had been his best chance at a rostrum, but a shocking mistake at the first corner for such an experienced driver, followed by a mid-race puncture, dashed any hope.
In Miami, he looked quick in the dry but struggled in the wet, with a team error not helping. Finally, in Jeddah, everything clicked for Buemi, who finished second in the second race of the double-header.
Asked if it felt good to finally claim a strong result, Buemi told RacingNews365 in Jeddah: "Yeah, it does. Really, I did my fair share of mistakes in Mexico when we had a great car and could have fought for the podium.
"I guess Miami was more the team — a miscommunication, not using the attack mode — and [in the first Jeddah race] it was just the tyres, out of our control.
"We just had a bad set, and [for the second race], there were no mistakes, a good set of tyres, and a good result. So hopefully we can iron out those mistakes and make sure we continue like that."
Envision has clearly made progress and, having been quick at every venue, can take confidence from the fact its Jaguar package appears to work everywhere. Its strong pace finally being rewarded with a podium, was the breakthrough the team had been searching for.
However, Buemi knows one strong result is not enough, particularly if he wants to contemplate a possible title push.
"I think we have some good leads on trying to improve [the car] a little bit more," said Buemi. "We now have good momentum and more confidence. I just hope we can continue in that trend.
"It doesn't mean anything to just get one good result, but hopefully we were fast in Mexico, we were fast in Miami, and we were fast in Jeddah. It looks like we can consistently be fast."
