Sebastian Vettel has received an unusual 'ban' from racing in F1 again - from his children.

The four-time F1 champion retired from grand prix racing after the 2022 season, but rumours of a potential return have not gone away, with Lewis Hamilton even hinting that Vettel would mount a comeback.

However, the most likely team for Vettel to join was Audi, but it has signed Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto as its pairing, with most other teams also having junior drivers as opposed to Vettel, who turns 39 next year.

Even if he wanted to return, Vettel has now explained that his children have given him a 'ban' from making a competitive comeback.

"My children have indicated that I am not allowed to drive anymore," the father of three explained on the Sky Sports F1 Germany podcast.

"They really like me being there, and of course that's great to hear.

"I've managed to find a rhythm outside of F1, well, and I have managed to keep the sweet peace in the family!

"I've gotten used to my new life."

Although his F1 career on-track might be over, Vettel has been linked with a return as the head of Red Bull's driver programme, with Helmut Marko even name-checking Red Bull's first world champion to succeed him.

When asked about that, Vettel wily replied that: "Those are big questions to which there are no quick answers."
