Dan Ticktum, current Cupra Kiro Formula E driver and former Red Bull junior, has given Formula 1 a list of "simple" instructions to ensure it keeps its biggest stars happy and in the series.

Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, and Fernando Alonso are just some of the big names to have criticised the championship's new power unit regulations, which feature a 50/50 split between electrical power and internal combustion.

Of those who have been critical of the rules, it is Verstappen who has been the most vocal, going as far as hinting that he could retire from F1 if things do not change.

Meetings are scheduled throughout this month, with the first on 8 April, involving the FIA, F1, and the teams to discuss the issues with the regulations and what can be done ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.

So far, the new rules have forced drivers to lift and coast in qualifying and deal with other cars approaching at alarming closing speeds, while fans have also raised concerns about the spectacle.

According to Ticktum, F1 should focus on what makes drivers and fans "love F1" and return to those fundamentals to improve the championship from all angles.

Asked if F1 is risking losing its biggest stars, Ticktum told RacingNews365 during an exclusive interview: "I think you just have to ask yourself a very simple question: what makes people love F1 or racing?

"It’s the noise, the atmosphere, the drama. They don’t want to hear a 1.6-litre hoover going around, lifting on the straights with 250kg of battery weight in the car.

Just make them light, make them loud, make them fast. The drivers will love it, and if the drivers are loving it, it’s better for the fans—it’s better for everything.

It’s supposed to be a spectacle. F1 is the pinnacle; it should be a show. That’s it. Sustainability obviously needs to be part of the message, but when you’re talking about F1, it’s supposed to be a show, and they should make it the best spectacle they can. At the moment, they’re not."
