Liam Lawson has completed the essential task of obtaining a new passport after running out of available pages following the Japanese Grand Prix.
Unsurprisingly, passport pages fill up quickly for Lawson due to his significant travel schedule, not only for Grands Prix but also to Racing Bulls’ Faenza base in Italy and its simulator in the United Kingdom.
As a result, the New Zealander found himself in need of a new passport to complete the remainder of the F1 season, something the unscheduled April break allowed him to do.
Following the last round in Suzuka, Lawson travelled home to New Zealand not only to train and spend time with his family, but also to obtain a new passport.
Thankfully for Lawson and Racing Bulls, it was a straightforward task, and he was successful, allowing him to travel for the rest of the year.
Addressing his April break, Lawson told select media, including RacingNews365: "Yeah, it's been good. Honestly, I was in New Zealand for over a week, so I did have to go and get a new passport, which was successful, so I can now travel for the rest of the season, which is great. We obviously fill up pages pretty quickly, so it's the second time I've needed to do this now.
"But yeah, I spent a lot of time with my family. Obviously, I don't get to see them too much, and I trained. I have a dirt bike track out there, so I rode quite a lot. And it was just very relaxing, very refreshing, so it was nice to be home for a bit.
"But obviously, there will be points in the break where we're using this time to maximise preparation for Miami. A lot of teams will bring new stuff, and we're going to be ready for that.
"So there's a lot of time planned in Europe, in Faenza and in the UK, for simulator [sessions] coming up in the next week or two."
