F1 rookie Logan Sargeant was left ruing his mistake which caused him to crash out of his first Q3 appearance. The Williams driver had managed to get through to the final part of qualifying for the Dutch Grand Prix in tricky conditions at Zandvoort as rain hit the circuit ahead of the session. Drivers switched to slicks from Intermediates for the final segment and after completing his first timed lap, Sargeant lost control of his FW45 when straying from the dry line into Turn 2. The American crashed heavily into the barriers and, having missed out on the best conditions later in the session, will start 10th on the grid. "Fine margins in those conditions," Sargeant explained when speaking to media including RacingNews365.com . "The last thing I ever want to do is leave the team with a boatload of damage. "I'm doing my best to deliver good results. I think there's been so many positives this weekend."
Bittersweet Sargeant to analyse crash
Despite the crash, Sargeant was happy with his overall performance and can see progress since the start of the season. "Even Q1, Q2, I missed a little bit of pace in the wet, but I think the biggest positive for me is delivering laps when I needed to," he added. "That's something I've lacked this year and to be able to do that has been really nice. But, yeah, it's all just shattered by a millimetre mistake." "Definitely bittersweet. From my point of view, I need a look back. I didn't see what I did wrong. "First of all just to see if it was a tiny mistake that was unavoidable or if it was a mindset thing. I haven't quite understood it yet. But I need to figure that out and then not dwell on it.
