Sainz tells Leclerc what his approach will be

Carlos Sainz explains to Leclerc how he will approach the upcoming season and what their relationship as teammates must be like.

While many are expecting fireworks between Ferrari's new driver pairing of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, the Spaniard believes they must work together in order to drive the team forward. Spanish driver Sainz proved over his two years at McLaren that he can lead a team forward. However, his challenge at Ferrari will be slightly different as despite having more F1 experience than his teammate Leclerc, Sainz is the newcomer and the Spaniard believes this might make things tricky. "For me, this year will be a bit complicated to beat you," Sainz said to Leclerc in an interview hosted by Sky Sports pundit Karun Chandhok. "Because I don't know the team and the car, but I will do my best. If there is a year where we have to work together, I think it will be this year." Sainz also stressed on the importance of collaboration, highlighting how he and the Monegasque driver must work together in order to return Ferrari to its former glory. "There's always a balance to find between wanting to be competitive with your reference as a team-mate but at the same time especially the moment we are going through as Ferrari, there's one thing that's of paramount importance and that's the team," Sainz told Karun Chandhok during an interview with Sky Sports pundit. "I think we are both going to push flat out to make sure we can help this team move forward, and I think we have started on the right foot, we are getting on well and have a good relationship." It will certainly be interesting to see how these two teammates get along, while Leclerc saw off the challenge of Sebastian Vettel, one gets the impression that Sainz might represent a different challenge as the Spaniard is now the underdog.
