Carlos Sainz has spoken out in support of Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc after the Monegasque's costly retirement from the lead of the French Grand Prix.

In a video message shared on Ferrari's social media channels, Sainz defended his teammate for a "normal" mistake after driving "incredibly well" across the 2022 season so far.

The Spaniard also reflected on his own recovery drive from the back of the grid to fifth position at Paul Ricard following his engine penalties.
