Robert Kubica has described how victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours was "perfect", four years on from his heartbreak in LMP2.
Kubica steered the #83 customer AF Corse Ferrari 499 Hypercar to overall victory at Le Mans, alongside team-mates Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson.
Kubica is the first Polish driver to win the race overall, with Ye also the first Chinese driver to be on the top step.
One-time F1 grand prix winner Kubica was competing in Hypercar for the first time after three previous attempts in LMP2.
On his debut in 2021, his car was leading on the final lap when it broke down and retired with a throttle problem.
For years on, the 2008 Canadian GP winner reflected on his biggest win since that day in Montreal 17 years ago.
"Winning Le Mans is special, it is one of the toughest races," Kubica explained.
"I was very close a few years ago in LMP2 at my first Le Mans when we lost the race on the last lap, but this time, everything worked perfectly and winning overall is better than in LMP2.
"It has been a demanding week, but fortunately, we made everything possible.
"We kept our heads down, when we had to, we pushed, and we didn't have to, we took care of the car, and of the tyres.
"I'm happy for myself, for my team-mates, for AF Corse and for Ferrari winning three times in a row with different crews, so I think a better scenario could not have happened."
