Max Verstappen will start the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix from pole position, putting him at the front of a surprising grid.
Carlos Sainz joins the Red Bull driver on the front row, while Lando Norris impressed to seal P3.
Many rivals disappointed during qualifying, making the starting line-up look different from what we are used to. Fernando Alonso (8th) and Sergio Perez (11th) fared badly, while George Russell (12th) and Charles Leclerc (19th) also experienced a very poor qualifying session.
Pierre Gasly initially claimed a strong fourth place, but was dropped back to 10th after receiving two three-place grid penalties for impeding other drivers during qualifying.
Meanwhile Charles Leclerc will start from the pit lane after a disastrous session saw him qualify in P19. Logan Sargeant also starts from the pits.
