Red Bull's mind-blowing command - Hungarian GP stats

RacingNews365 brings a pick of the best stats and facts ahead of the Hungaroring weekend.

F1 returns to Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix as Red Bull looks to continue its relentless form. A win for Max Verstappen at Silverstone kept up the Milton Keynes-based outfit's perfect victory record this term as the Dutchman opened up a 99-point lead over teammate Sergio Perez in the Drivers' standings. Red Bull itself enjoys a 208-point advantage over the nearest challenger Mercedes, but before the weekend kicks off at the Hungaroring, RacingNews365 has cherry-picked five of the best stats and facts for the Hungaroring.

F1 heritage

Despite the historic appeal of circuits surrounding it on the calendar, the Hungaroring boasts the second-longest consecutive streak on the F1 calendar having featured since 1986. Only Monza has a longer streak - the Italian Grand Prix venue has held a race in every season since 1981

Red Bull's astonishing dominance

Championship-leading constructor Red Bull's dominance is well documented by the standings table, but a look at the number of laps led paints a true picture. The team has led 580 out of 610 laps this term, a 95.1 per cent share of all laps completed and just 2.2 per cent shy of McLaren's full-season record from 1988.

Verstappen x Schumacher

Verstappen is well on course to break more F1 records this season and another can fall this weekend. Should the Dutchman take pole on Saturday and then win on Sunday, he would match Michael Schumacher's tally of six consecutive pole conversions.

Leclerc misery

Charles Leclerc has established himself as a shining light on the F1 grid, yet his time in Hungary has been largely forgettable. At no stage in his F1 or F2 career has the Ferrari driver finished on the podium at the Hungaroring, a statistic he will hope to change this weekend.

Alonso anniversary

An important celebration for Fernando Alonso as he returns to the venue that saw him pick up his first F1 victory. The Aston Martin driver, then driving for Renault, became the youngest driver to win in the sport and would go on to become a household name. Will it be a happy anniversary?
