George Russell has retained his Canadian Grand Prix victory after the stewards rejected a protest from Red Bull.

The investigation was sparked following a shock collision involving McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Russell, resulting in the retirement of the latter and sparking the introduction of a safety car with three laps remaining at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

F1 stewards hand Lando Norris unusual penalty after Oscar Piastri collision

Lando Norris has received a five-second time penalty for being judged at fault for causing the collision with Oscar Piastri, on lap 67 of the Canadian Grand Prix.

The incident occurred along the start-finish straight with four laps remaining of the 70-lap event, with the duo clashing for the first time this season in earnest in their battle for the F1 drivers' championship.

Seven F1 drivers, including debut podium claimer Kimi Antonelli, have all been handed warnings for overtaking under safety car conditions after the chequered flag in the Canadian Grand Prix.

The investigation was sparked by an incident on lap 67 of 70 when Lando Norris ran into the back of McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri in attempting to overtake along the start-finish straight.
