Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has revealed Max Verstappen is running an older specification of floor in Qatar.

Verstappen has been unhappy with the performance of the RB21 all weekend at the Lusail International Circuit due to understeer and excessive bouncing.

The Dutchman qualified for the sprint race in sixth place and made up two positions early on to finish the event in fourth.

He enjoyed a more positive outing in the grand prix qualifying session with a run to third. It has now been revealed that through the weekend, Verstappen has been running the Red Bull floor that was originally introduced in Monza.

This is despite the most upgraded specification being introduced in Mexico. Addressing Verstappen's issues, Marko stated the concerns with the car are not solely related to the floor.

“The bouncing wasn't just due to the floor; there were a few other things responsible for it," Marko told Sky Germany

“Yuki Tsunoda was happy with the new floor from the start and got along well with it.

“Max didn't like it as much, so that was an individual decision.”

Verstappen qualified for the Qatar Grand Prix on the second row as he aims to keep his F1 title hopes alive for the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

The 28-year-old will line up behind the McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
