Raikkonen says Mick reminds him of Michael

Alfa Romeo driver Kimi Raikkonen has stated that Mick Schumacher has similar qualities to those of his father and seven-time F1 world champion Michael.

Alfa Romeo driver and 2007 F1 champion Kimi Raikkonen has said certain qualities about Mick Schumacher remind him of his father Michael. Raikkonen who made his F1 debut in 2001, spent seven seasons racing against F1 legend Michael Schumacher. The Finn who in 2003 finished just two points behind the Ferrari legend is well placed to draw paraelles between both Schumachers and said Mick deserves to be in F1 based on merit. "He reminds me a lot of his Dad, I’m very happy for him," Raikkonen told Sky Sports F1. "It’ll be exciting to see; hopefully he has a decent car. 'Sure part of it is that (people having a lot of goodwill for him because of his Dad), but he’s not in F1 because of his second name." About to enter his 19th season in the sport, Raikkonen has also said the introduction of the new regulations will have no bearing on whether he stays in the sport or not. "I think everybody is excited to see what happens, but it honestly doesn’t really dictate if I am racing or not," Raikkonen continued. "I hope for the sport, I think everybody hopes for the sport that it does what they say it’s been planned to do." Raikkonen finally offered his opinion on Alonso's return to F1, saying the Spainiard should enjoy his comeback. "Without that break, for sure today I wouldn’t be sitting here talking about F1. I think he (Alonso) will enjoy it," Raikkonen concluded. The most experienced driver on the grid will be hoping he can improve on his 2020 form where the former world champion was only able to accumulate a paltry four points over the course of the entire season.
