Oscar Piastri feels Red Bull will "clearly have questions" to answer should it suffer a drop in performance after its parc ferme trick was revealed.
Red Bull admitted ahead of the United States Grand Prix at Austin that it was the team at centre of allegations one outfit had a device fitted to its car that could enable the bib or T-Tray under the car to be adjusted whilst in parc ferme conditions to provide optimal settings for qualifying and then the race.
Such a system, if used, would be a direct breach of the technical regulations and Articles 40.2 and 40.9 which state only the front-wing flaps can be adjusted whilst in parc ferme.
The FIA has checked the system in the Austin pit-lane, and is currently satisfied that all rules have followed - with Max Verstappen proceeding to put the RB20 on pole for the sprint race, with Lando Norris in fourth and Piastri down in 16th, following a track limits penalty.
Shortly after the news broke, Piastri felt Red Bull's device, which is not accessible once the car is fully built up, "clearly" broke the rules - and subsequently pointed to McLaren's own recent rear-wing debates with the FIA.
"It is not really for me to speak about, it is more one for Andrea or Zak, so for me, I'll try and drive as fast as I can," Piastri told media including RacingNews365.
"We will see, and if there is a big difference in performance, then clearly there will be some questions.
"It is not like our mini-DRS, that was legal and even though we had to make some changes, they weren't revolutionary to the car.
"We will see if it makes any impact, but it is one for Zak and Andrea."
