Oscar Piastri has become just the seventh member of a rare F1 club - in scoring a podium on his birthday.

The McLaren driver turned 24 on April 6th, the day of the Japanese GP, where he started and finished third behind four-time F1 champion Max Verstappen and team-mate Lando Norris.

In all 1,128 world championship grands prix to date, only six drivers before Piastri had claimed a podium on their birthday, with Chris Amon being the first at the 1968 British GP.

Only two of those six drivers have won on their birthday, with James Hunt being the first at the Dutch GP during his title-winning season of 1976.

The other driver was 29 years later at the 1995 Canadian GP when Jean Alesi clinched his only F1 win in 201 attempts, emotionally driving the #27 Ferrari to the win at Gilles Villeneuve's home track.

On the 2025 grid, only Piastri and Alex Albon have their birthdays on the actual day of a grand prix - with Albon finishing seventh in China on his 29th birthday.
