Pascal Wehrlein crowned two-time Formula E world champion as rivalry hits boiling point

Pascal Wehrlein was crowned a two-time Formula E world champion in a chaotic and controversial season finale in London, while Taylor Barnard won to make history in the series. 

Barnard managed his energy and attack modes perfectly to secure a maiden victory in the series at the end of his second campaign, becoming the youngest winner in Formula E. 

It was an emotional win for the young Briton for DS Penske, with DS Automobiles leaving the championship. The Mahindra duo of Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara completed the podium. 

However, it was all eyes on the title fight. Porsche had used team orders again like on Saturday, with Nico Müller attempting to hold up Mitch Evans behind. 

Evans finally got past on Lap 17, before getting ahead of Wehrlein and teammate Antonio Felix da Costa on Lap 27. 

Da Costa's task was to hold up Wehrlein, something he did to such an extent that his former teammate fell outside the points. It left Wehrlein furious, with the duo's rivalry absolutely hitting boiling point.

This opened the door to Andretti's Jake Dennis who was at the back for much of the race, before charging through into the pits.

Drama struck on Lap 32 as Wehrlein spun both Dennis and Joel Eriksson, leading to the latter retiring. It dropped the two title contenders to the back. 

Wehrlein finished in 15th with Dennis in 18th, but due to Evans only finishing in fourth it was the Porsche driver who became a two-time world champion.
