Oscar Piastri will miss the opening free practice session of the 2025 season finale, and potentially the title-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The Australian currently leads Lando Norris by 12 points and Max Verstappen 40 with 141 left to play for across the final five races, two of which are Sprints.
This means Piastri will be unable to take his second mandatory FP1 young driver session in either Brazil or Qatar, with the sole practice before Sprint qualifying.
He is also unable to take it in Mexico since team-mate Lando Norris steps out for FP1 in favour of IndyCar star Pato O'Ward.
This leaves Piastri with Las Vegas or Abu Dhabi with which to sit out his second session, after the Italian GP, and given the difficult nature of Las Vegas, it means he is likely to be on the sidelines whilst Norris and Verstappen are both on track, with the duo set to take their second sessions this weekend.
Arvid Lindblad is set to drive Verstappen's RB21 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
