Oscar Piastri has firmly opined that he believes both he and Lando Norris have received equal treatment at McLaren after their Singapore incident.
At Turn 2 on the opening lap, Norris muscled past Piastri for third place, with the Australian initially furious at the move, believing Norris had broken the so-called Papaya Rules of engagement between the two, although Norris had bounced into Piastri following contact with Max Verstappen.
In the end, Norris finished ahead of Piastri in third to further eat into his points lead, reducing Piastri's lead to 22 with six grands prix and three Sprints worth 174 points remaining.
At the recent Italian GP, Piastri was forced to give up second to Norris after a slow McLaren pit-stop, worth another three points, but he firmly declared his belief that both drivers had received fair and equal treatment, and would continue to do so.
When asked if he believed both drivers had been receiving equal treatment, Piastri dismissed any concerns that he had not: "I think ultimately, yes," he began to tell media, including RacingNews365.
"There's obviously been some difficult situations for the whole team, and I think we've spoken about a number of things.
"Could things have been better at certain points? Yes, but ultimately, it's a learning process with the whole team, and I'm very, very happy that the intentions are very well-meaning.
"So I have absolutely no concerns about that. Yeah, just obviously there's been some tough situations this year, and this is another one."
The Australian was then asked two questions regarding the situation, to which he gave the same one-word answer.
Piastri was first asked if the incident would change how he races Norris, and whether he was concerned that the good intentions of McLaren could disappear as the title race intensifies.
To both questions, Piastri gave a simple "No" in response.
