Oscar Piastri was handed a 10-second time penalty for a safety car infringement at the British Grand Prix, whilst Max Verstappen plummeted down the order after spinning just before the safety car restart.
The Australian, who was leading at Silverstone, put the brakes on going down the Hangar Straight before the safety car restart on Lap 24, seemingly in an attempt to catch out Verstappen in second.
The Red Bull ended up going into the lead due to Piastri's actions. When the field was released, the Dutchman spun, falling down to P10.
It appeared Piastri was trying to make Verstappen lose tyre temperature, something that could have induced his spin.
The stewards took a dim view of the action, handing down their punishment. Zak Brown confirmed McLaren was looking into appealing the decision, but ultimately decided against taking action.
