Oliver Bearman has moved to within TWO points of an F1 race ban following further sanction from the stewards at the Italian Grand Prix.
Approaching the second chicane, Bearman was on the inside of Williams' Carlos Sainz, with the two colliding through the corner, and being placed under investigation.
Bearman was found to be at fault by the stewards, with an initial 10-second time penalty applied.
As per the norm in cases like this, two penalty points were subsequently added to Bearman's super licence.
He already had eight points on his licence, meaning he has moved to 10 points following the Monza race.
His next set does not come off until November 1st.
The stewards' report read: "The Stewards reviewed video and in-car video evidence. Car 55 attempted to overtake Car 87 on the outside into Turn 4 and had its front axle ahead of the front axle of Car 87 at the apex, thereby earning the right to the racing line.
"The driver of Car 87 defended his position on the inside instead of giving up the position and caused the collision. The Stewards determine that the driver of Car 87 is predominantly at fault and therefore the standard penalty for such incidents is applied."
