Lando Norris has ended the opening day of pre-season testing on top of the timesheet, setting a 1:30.340 for McLaren.
It marked a positive start for McLaren who enters the year looking to defend its constructors' championship win from last year.
The session was extended by one hour after running was stopped for 68 minutes when the circuit was hit by a power outage.
The outage was caused by a substation failure that saw all the floodlights surrounding the track and the lights in the pit garages go out.
However, after the session resumed, the cars were able to circulate once again with an extra hour in hand to make up for the lost time.
