New Red Bull F1 team principal Laurent Mekies has issued a statement after being promoted to the role.
Mekies takes over at the helm of the Milton Keynes-based squad following the sudden exit of Christian Horner, an announcement that was also communicated on Wednesday.
Horner held the team principal position at Red Bull for over 20 years and departs as one of the sport's most successful figures.
Mekies moves up to Red Bull after spending the last 18 months as team principal of the sister Racing Bulls outfit.
In his first words as Red Bull team boss, Mekies said: “Over the last year and a half it has been an absolute privilege to lead Racing Bulls and I would like to thank all of our talented people both in Faenza and Milton Keynes.
“Looking to the future, I am excited to be taking on the role of CEO and team principal of Red Bull Racing, one of the most successful and dynamic teams in the sport.
“It’s an honour to be part of this group of brilliant people that embody the Red Bull spirit.
“Together we will achieve great results, building on the incredible legacy left by Christian Horner during his two decades in charge.”
Under Mekies' leadership, Racing Bulls has scored 36 points in the opening 12 rounds this year, leaving it seventh in the constructors' championship.
With Mekies vacating his role at the sister team, the Fernchman has been replaced by Alan Permane - a long-time Team Enstone member who joined Racing Bulls last year as racing director.
