NASCAR fans have called for Austin Hill to be banned for the rest of the season, or longer, after he triggered a huge crash at Watkins Glen.
Racing in the Xfinity Series, the step below the NASCAR Cup Series, Hill hook manoeuvred Michael McDowell on lap 74 of 82, instigating a 16-car pile-up.
As a result, there was a 45-minute red flag delay as the circuit was cleared of wreckage, before Connor Zilisch went on to take victory, although misfortune awaited him.
After climbing on top of his car to celebrate his win, he fell, breaking his collarbone in the process.
However, it is Hill who has stolen headlines in the aftermath of the race, with fans taking to social media to decry his actions and aggressive style.
Having recently returned from a one-race suspension for similar behaviour, there are numerous calls in comment sections for him to be banned for the remainder of the year, with some wanting more extreme punishments for the 31-year-old.
