Fernando Alonso was left fuming on the radio during the Singapore Grand Prix after Max Verstappen ducked into the pits moments after the Aston Martin driver had waved him past under blue flags.
Footage emerged after the race showing an irate Alonso inside the cockpit, slamming his hand against the halo in frustration.
The Spaniard had been shown blue flags just before Verstappen peeled off into the pit lane a few corners later, a move that cost Alonso valuable time in his battle for position against Sergio Perez's Cadillac.
Aston Martin had been keeping Alonso updated over the radio on the gap to Perez throughout the stint, with the two-time F1 drivers' champion continuing to push hard to stay ahead of the Mexican. Alonso did not hold back when the pit stop timing cost him ground.
"We're gaining fucking one tenth per lap, and then we lose two seconds," Alonso shouted over the radio. "But you can't see that he's going to stop then?!"
His engineer responded: "Yeah, Fernando. We're okay. You're racing Perez on track. Lance [Stroll] is still five seconds behind."
Alonso was unimpressed with the explanation.
"Yeah, but now I need 20 laps to win back what I lost on this lap! I'm not going to push," he quipped back.
It was not the only moment of frustration for the Aston Martin driver during the race in Singapore.
Earlier in the session, Isack Hadjar had come flying past Alonso following a virtual safety car restart, much to his annoyance.
"Haha. Energy. What a ridiculous engine this is," Alonso said.
Alonso ultimately held off Perez to keep the Cadillac driver behind him in the closing stages, with the Spaniard finishing P16, behind Arvid Lindblad and one lap down on Verstappen.
