Max Verstappen's sim racing team, Team Redline, have confirmed more details about the format for the relaunched 'Real Racers Never Quit' contest.

Following the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix due to severe flooding in the region, Team Redline confirmed that they will run a virtual racing event at the Imola circuit.

The contest will include Verstappen, along with a collection of professional and sim racing drivers, and takes place on Sunday 21st May at 15:30 CET.

Speaking to RacingNews365, Team Redline director Atze Kerkhof credited Verstappen with the idea, and explained how easy it was to compile a list of promising drivers.

"The idea was all on the initiative of Max Verstappen himself," said Kerkhof.

"When it became clear that the F1 race was not going ahead, they approached us asking if we could set something up at short notice."

"We with Verstappen.com Racing work closely with Red Bull and so the question of which Red Bull juniors wanted to participate was quickly posed. Of course, we also knew some more names who also knew some more names, so that's how we were able to put together a nice list."

"We hope the event will be a success, sports-wise, but certainly also in view of the charity."

More details about the format have been revealed, and the event will use four different cars in four different races: Formula 3 and Formula Ford, Mazda MX5 and the Toyota GR86 cars.

When asked about the choice of cars, Kerkhof explained: "These cars are a little easier to be competitive with right away, even for the not so seasoned sim racer. Of the cars chosen, the F3 car will probably be the most challenging."
