Mitch Evans offers brutally honest Formula E reflection on 'biggest battle'

It has been a season of digging deeper than ever before for Jaguar's Mitch Evans, who continues to find himself in an unexpected Formula E situation.

Mitch Evans has offered an honest reflection on how difficult it currently is remaining in a positive mindset in Formula E, something he has described as the "biggest battle".

It has been a season of shock for Evans, Nick Cassidy and the entire Jaguar team, who look set to fall comfortably short on defending its title.

The Gen3 Evo era has not been kind to Evans nor the Big Cat, whose package is unable to compete with the dominant Porsches and Nissans.

Cassidy's podium in the second race of the Monaco E-Prix was the outfit's first since Evans' record-breaking São Paulo season-opener victory, where he started in last.

Poor luck and a difficult package have combined together to deflate Evans, who has faced a campaign so far ridiculed with things going against him.

Even in his unbelievable Brazil win, it was a technical fault which caused him to start from last.

Any hope of becoming world champion this year is slipping away by the second, with the New Zealander sitting 12th in the standings on 25 points – all from his win.

Evans is no stranger to steep challenges, but he recognises that remaining positive at the current moment could be the most difficult yet.

"Honestly, right now very. Yeah, it's going to be the biggest battle I think," Evans told RacingNews365, when asked how difficult it is remaining positive.

"You just feel like you just keep getting knocked on the teeth constantly, where your expectations X, and you're so far away from delivering it.

"A lot of it's through luck, a lot of it's through external circumstances, but there's also a little bit of a deficit in pace here as well.

"So there's nothing to really like get excited about, but we're hoping to turn that around. Yeah, it's not where I expected to be this part of the season."
