Mercedes have presented a new 'sidepod-less' version of the W13 for this week's pre-season test in Bahrain. Rumours of such a move from Mercedes gathered pace following the opening test week in Barcelona, where the reigning Constructors' World Champions steadily racked up mileage and topped the timesheets on the final day. Ahead of the on-track action resuming at the Bahrain International Circuit, all 10 cars assembled on the grid for a photo shoot, offering a first look at what Mercedes - and other teams - have changed.
Mercedes go sidepod-less with their W13 update
Mercedes' updated car features much slimmer sidepods, hence the 'sidepod-less' name doing the rounds in the paddock. Narrow cooling inlets replace the larger, square intakes seen throughout the Barcelona test, with the side mirrors and some additional fins now mounted to 'wings' above where the bulk of the sidepods would normally sit. Lewis Hamilton will drive the upgraded W13 on Thursday morning, before handing over to new teammate George Russell for the afternoon session.
