Mercedes has become the second F1 engine provider to fire up its power unit for the 2026 season and beyond, following in the footsteps of Honda.

The new campaign will see all new chassis and power unit rules. It is the first time since 2014 that the latter element of the regulations has been rewritten.

Last time, Mercedes stole a march on its rivals, setting the works team up for eight consecutive F1 constructors' championships, as it dominated the early part of the era.

This has led to speculation that the Brackley-based squad — and its customer teams — will again enjoy an advantage over those using rival power units.

Mercedes will continue to supply McLaren and Williams into the new regulations cycle, with Alpine forgoing its works status to also become a customer.

Team Enstone replaces Aston Martin, which has entered into a works deal with Honda.
